Rashford, who had fallen out of favour under new United boss Ruben Amorim and last made an appearance for the club on December 12, finally ended his nightmare as he completed a loan move from Old Trafford to Villa Park. Aston Villa have agreed to sign the forward on a short-term deal but they have the option to buy him outright for £40 million ($49m) in the summer.

reports that while Rashford's present move is temporary, it is highly unlikely that the player will ever return to the Red Devils and play another match for the club. The England international's current contract runs until 2028 but the player is expected to move out on a second loan spell next summer if the Villans refuse to buy him permanently. The report adds that the 27-year-old's relationship with his boyhood club has completely broken down and he won't return to the club in the future even if manager Amorim leaves the team.

While the club happily approved Rashford's move away from the club, a section of their fans have reacted to the news with disdain towards co-owners INEOS and their handling of the situation, as well as criticism of the player.
